Drug workers and ex service users deliver these programmes, both of whom have an excellent understanding of target audiences and their specific needs.Listed below are the training programmes provided, and shows what those attending the sessions will gain at the end.Crack Harm Reduction Training Programme for Drug WorkersOutcomes: A more informed and empowered staff team A reduction in risk taking in smoking and injecting practice Reduced risk for new smoking and injectors being initiated Increased awareness of what smoking and injecting paraphernalia is used for and how it reduces risk Increased understanding around smoking and injecting practice and behaviour Increased engagement with crack smoking and injecting community Injecting Training Programme for Drug WorkersOutcomes: A more informed and empowered staff team A reduction in risk taking injecting practice Reduced risk for new injectors being initiated Increased awareness of what injecting paraphernalia is used for and how it reduces risk Increased understanding around injecting practice and behaviour Increased engagement with the injecting community Peer Led Crack Harm Reduction Training for Service UsersOutcomes: To reduce harm related to smoking and injecting crack To introduce techniques that minimise high risk behaviour around procurement To reduce chaotic behaviour around crack use To improve crack users physiological and psychological health Signposting routes into treatment Safer initiation to new users Reduction in spread of BBV’s Reduced risk to the community Peer Led Injecting WorkshopsOutcomes: Introduces basic harm reduction messages Safer injecting practice BBV and infection awareness Needle exchange and paraphernalia awareness Reduces resistance to testing Introduces users to treatment pathways BusinessThe purpose of the training is to empower managers, from team leaders upwards, to Recognise an employee with a potential drug or alcohol problems. Provide the manager with the skills that will enable them to approach/challenge an employee on these issues, in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures. It is hoped that this training in early prevention will enable staff to remain in post and continue to be a valuable asset to any business.
